I can only assume that Black won on time in a position where White is better. Both sides had their chances to win this match. Nerve and fatigue played a major role in this playoff. I hope that the playoff can be played the next morning in the future. To have to play 5 playoff games after a full round 9 game is tough for anyone.

That 108 move monster was tough for Irina to have to play out and then go right into 5 tie-break games. What time did they end?
I’m not sure, but I think it ended after 11PM. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I’d rather have these things decided on chess skill rather than blunders in rapid/blitz games due to exhaustion.
It is absolutely unprofessional unacceptable nonsense to force players into 5 additional games the same day as a difficult and emotional final round slow game. This is not chess, it is crude idiocy in organization.
