Rxe1 a) Rxe1 Qxf2 and wins b) Qxe1 Qxg2 matt
Rxe1 looks right to me, as it loses the bishop (white can’t recapture with the rook because the queen is hanging, and can’t recapture with the queen because of Qxg2 mate).
Rxe1
Black wins a piece with Re1 since the white queen is pulling double duty- trying to protect the bishop and g2 at the same time:
1. …..Re1
2. Re1 Qf2 wins for black. Or
2. Qe1 Qg2# wins for black.
The best black can do, in my opinion, is to try to muck things up with a move like 2.Qc2 preserving, for a while at least, the queen and the rook, should he choose to. Liquidating the queens with 2.Qf1 just seems more hopeless to me in an endgame down a pawn and a piece.
What’s wrong with simply RxB?
Rxe1 looks good to me in light of the fact that white can’t capture with the queen due to Qxe1 Qxg2#
Rxe1 Rxe1 Qxf2 ouch
Rxe1 Qxf1 Rxf1 black is up a piece
Rxe1 Qc2+ Be4 Qxe4 Rxe4 Rxe4
Rxe1 Qc2+ Be4 Rxe4 Rxe4 Qxe4+ g6 would be a successful defense
Rxe1 Qc2+ g6 Rxe1 Qxe1 black is up the piece
Gotta run for now
Take the bishop on e2 with the rook, I suppose. Win a bishop.
silly rabbit…the bishop’s on e1. Still take it with the rook…
1…Rxe1 ! 0-1
Re1, if Qe1 Black plays Qg2#, if white tries Re1 instead then Qf2 wins the queen, if white plays Qf1 black plays Rf1 up a piece and a pawn and winning, and if white tries Qf5+ Qf5 Rf5 with black up a piece and a pawn winning!
Rxe1
Its a simple problem.. im surprised the player overlooked something so simple.. arnt they supposed to be good players..
… R x d4
If Q x d4 then Q x g2 ++
Rxe1
if Rxe1 Qxf2
if Qxe1 Qxg2#
if any check, g6.
if any Q move RxR
if any R move QxQ
I’ll the bishop on e1 with the rook, and noone will convince me otherwise…
R:e1 wins a piece.
1. RxB (a) RxR
2. QxQ Q and B for R
1. … (b) QxQ
2. RxQ net 1 B
1. … (c) QxR
2. Qxg2#
1. … (d) Qf5+
2. QxQ RxQ net 1 B
