1……. R8e2! with the idea of Qf2 – Qxg2 looks strong.
Almost plays itself:
1. …..R8e2
Threatens Qf2 followed by a mating capture at f1.
2. Re1
White can probably struggle longer after 2.Rh7 and Qa7, but he will be down a rook, and there might be a forced mate in that line, too, but I am not seeing it right now. Continuing:
2. …..Qf2
3. Kh1 Re1
4. Qe1
Or get mated more quickly. Continuing:
4. …..Qe1
5. Kg1
And now for a pretty finish:
5. …..Ng3!
6. hg3 fg3
And nothing can prevent Qf2 followed by Qxf1#
1…R8e2
(The threat is 2…Qf2+, followed by Qxg2#)
2. Rxe1 Qf2+
3. Kh1 Rxe1
White has to lose queen to avoid a mate.
Black can go a rook up
1…R8e2 2.Rxh7+
(2.Rxe1 Qf2+ 3.Kh1 Rxe1 4.Qxe1 Qxe1 5.Kg1 Ng3 6.hxg3 fxg3 7.Rxh7+ Kxh7 8.d6 Qf2+ 9.Kh1 Qxf1#)
(2.g3 Qxh2#)
(2.Qd4 Rxd1 3.Qxd1 Qf2+ 4.Kh1 Re1 5.Qxe1 Qxe1 6.Kg1 Ng3 7.hxg3 fxg3 8.Rxh7+ Kxh7 9.d6 Qf2+ 10.Kh1 Qxf1#)
(2.Rxf4 Nxf4 3.Rxe1 Rxe1)
2…Kxh7
3.Qa7+ Kh6
4.Rxe1 Rxe1
5.Qc5
Taking advantage of the pin on white bishop:
1. Re2!!
Threating 2. Qf2+ Kh1 3. Qxg2#
If 1. … h3 the same mate occurs in 4 moves after inserting 3. Qg3+.
And not 1. … g3? Qxh2#.
So enforced seems:
1. … Qd4 (Qa7 Rxd1 Rxh1+ Kg5 d6 Qe1 doesn’t help)
2. Rxd1 Qxd1
3. Qf2+ Kh1
4. Re1! Qd3/Qc4
4. Ng3+! hxg3
5. Re5!
with Rh5# next.
1….R8e2! 2.Rxe1 Qf2+ 3.Kh1 Rxe1 and wins.
Kamalakanta
Maybe 1…R8e2.
The main variation 1…R8e2 2.Re1 Qf2+ 3.Kh1 Re1 I cannot find anything for white.
Can’t figure this one out.
R(8) d2 looks very dificult for white to meet.
