I’m not so sure about this one.
1. Nxg7 Kxg7 puts the Black king on the White bishop’s diagonal, allowing
2. Qf5 (threatening Rxd7) Rad8
3. Qg5+ Kh8
4. Ne5 Nxe5
5. Bxe5 Qc8
6. Bxf6+ Bxf6
7. Qxf6+ Kg8
8. Qg5+
White is up a pawn. I doubt that this the best line, but I enjoy how White’s pieces spring into action after the sacrifice.
Who else has something? I’ll keep looking
This game won the brilliancy prize at Manila in ’92. Kasparov played the same line and won. Another interesting move from the same game is 12. fxe3!?
This position really is a masterpiece and I calculated for at least half an hour. I completely admire this position. My choice of move in this position is 1.Nxg7!! Kxg7 2.Qf5! (threatening Rxd7) 2…Nf8 (Other moves Ne5 followed by Ng4 come) 3.Ne5 h6 (Stopping the Qg5; 3…Ng6 4.Ng4 Qc8 5.Rd7 Rd8 6.Bxf6+ Kf8 7.Bxe7+ Nxe7 8.Rxd8++-; 3…Kg8 4.Rhf1 and attack on the f6 isn’t parry.) 4.Ng4 N8h7 5.Rd7 Qc8 6.Rf1 Thanks for the problem. It’s really a wonderful choice and I hope to meet such beautiful positions every day.
