Here is the chess history of Mexico.
I visited Mexico City 2 summers ago and it was an incredible experience. The locals are very much into chess. The venue is magnificent and there will be a lot of media attention worldwide.
If you have time, I urge you to attend this very special event, even for just a few days, especially if you live in America. It is not to often that we have a major event this size in our backyard. It would be an experience of a lifetime for many.
Yes, lets hope this is the first of many big chess events that will be held in the Americas.
You don’t consider San Luis to have been a big event?

It’s HALF a big event in the Americas — the other half’s in Spain.
I have a flight and hotel booked but obtaining tickets to the event on Ticketmaster has been a bit dodgy. Called customer service U.S. and no help, called Mexico and no bilingual rep, my 5th grade Spanish will get me by in Mexico, still, no tickets secured.
