Haven’t we already done this twice?
Why wasn’t Krush invited? Is this some FIDE politics? And if she’s not invited why include her in the vote?
My question is why wasn’t I invited!!!???
It’s bogus. It’s a World Championship if the Polgars play. Otherwise it’s just a title that perhaps needs an asterisk next to the winners name.
Hey, can’t be bogus. I imagine Kramnik and the boys will be following every game.
The world champion should be determined like the mens title… there should be a series of matches to determine the challenger.
This WC without Judit is equally bogus as the men WC without Magnus.
I have a lot of respect for Judit Polgar and can understand why she prefers to play in men’s event. She has proven everything already.
That being said, what are the women’s chess to do?
We have the second highest woman’s chess player in the world (Koneru)with a men’s GM title approaching 2700 (high 2600+). Are you insinuating that she should simply abandon plans to become a woman’s world champion at the time?
You guys are so callous and don’t even pay attention to what you say.
Carlsen refuses to play. Certainly, he has won many strong chess tournaments and is certainly the current #1 player. Therefore other legit and strong contenders like Aronian should stop chasing the world championship?
Get a life! If chess is how you earn your bread, your career should be put on hold from someone who obviously have profited is so many ways from the game?
Some of these bogus arguments do not lend themselves well to the points its authors are making. Carlsen withdrew, the world chess goes on. FIDE is not perfect and Carlsen certainly had a shot to really prove a point had he agreed to play.
Susan, please explain for the benefit of your readers why: (1) Nadezhda Kosintseva and Irina Krush were not invited; and (2) why they’ve been included in this informal poll.
I don’t know why they were not invited. They should.
The poll was created a while back, before the final roster was published.
As you can see, quite a few people believe that they have a legit shot to win the title.
Best wishes,
Susan
Krush did not qualify, because she wasn’t in the top 10 by rating and when she had the chance to qualify in the 2009 US Womens Championship, she did not finish in the top 2 which was required. It doesn’t matter that she won the 2010 US Womens because it was not a World Championship qualifier like it was in 2009.
Is someone stopping Judit Polgar from playing? Or should FIDE just deliver the cup to her address each Jan 1st?
So previous ‘Anonymous’ users, please just shut up and let others willing to play, play.
The next 5 players are no slouches either – only those ranked much higher them should even insinuate anything about their abilities and talents and hard work. When you get there, open your mouth (be careful not to put your other foot in, at that time).
(And Madam Admin Polgar, this post has no bad language, is not abusive and is very much on the topic raised by other commentators – so not posting this may not reflect well on the site’s anti-nepotism policies.)
“so not posting this may not reflect well on the site’s anti-nepotism policies”
Why? Is your mom posting here too?
as far as I’m aware (and Susan you’re the best person short of Judit herself to confirm this), it is Judit’s deliberate, conscious choice to not play in women-only events.
so even if she was invited, she would decline.
I thought Krush came in second at the US Women’s in 2009, losing first place in a blitz playoff. She should have been invited, just like Nadezhda should have been.
The following is the US Women’s Chess Championship 2009 Standing:-
Anna Zatonskih 8.5/9 (+8 -0 =1)
Camilla Baginskaite 6.5/9 (+5 -1 =3)
Alisa Melekhina 5.5/9 (+4 -2 =3)
Irina Krush 5.5/9 (+4 -2 =3)
Tatev Abrahamyan 4/9 (+3 -4 =2)
Sabina Francesca Foisor 3.5/9 (+3 -5 =1)
Rusudan Goletiani 3.5/9 (+2 -4 =3)
Iryna Zenyuk 3/9 (+2 -5 =2)
Tsagaan Battsetseg 2.5/9 (+2 -6 =1)
Yun Fan 2.5/9 (+2 -6 =1)
Yes Pucker – my mom does play.
But as your name indicates, why am I not surprised at your not understanding English.
Judit did get invited to play in every knockout women world championship. It was her own choice to decline. The championship should go on regardless because this is not a one person game.
