After seeing the spectacular Democratic convention in Denver in the past few days, I can’t help but think that the Republicans will have to do something surprising and drastic to regain the headlines and momentum. This is like a chess game.
I previously predicted that Senator McCain would pick former Governor Mitt Romney. Even though this was my pick, this would open up holes for the other side to attack and this may not be wise.
Therefore, I think that it would be much better if Senator McCain picks a woman as his running mate. Some big names include Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas.
However, if Senator McCain picks a woman, it could be Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. She would be the logical pick as she is far away from the D.C. usual politics, she’s a conservative, she is young, and she is highly popular. She would fill the weaknesses of Senator McCain. She is my pick using logical chess-like strategy.
Any of these women would give Senator McCain a chance to capture a good deal of the women’s votes.
What do you think? What is your prediction?
Great pick if true.
You were right the first time.
So you subscribe to the theory that women are more likely to vote for a woman than a man?
Are you claiming there is gender-bias in voting? What is your evidence for that?
Does that mean men are less likely to vote Republican if there’s a woman Vice-Pres? If so, how does picking a female VP help?
Maybe you just want a female VP because you believe in the glass ceiling? Surely, that’s just a 20th Century concept and now dead.
The main question ought to be
“What is good for America?”
not
“What is good for women’s gender politics?”
Sarah Palin would be an awesome pick and here are the reasons why.
1. Pro lifer who has five kids.
2. She actually fights for the polar bears. There has been an increase in the population since 1950.
3. She wants to drill in the ANWR and to be safe about it as well.
4. She hunts and therefore strongly supports the 2nd Amendment.
5. She has a 90% approval rating.
6 With that said she is a rising star in the GOP.
I too, am a Romney for VP supporter, but if it’s not him if has to be her or some other bigwig (Powell comes to mind)that can chase after the women ofr the minority vote.
I do think that Condi would be an awful choice (as well, as Lieberman)only because they are closely associated with the Bush Policy overseas.
But lets all hope for the best on McCain’s VP pick and support them 100%.
Cheers,
Jim Hulslander
Dr. Condoleezza Rice would have been an excellent choice, not because of her skin colour or gender which are irrelevant, but because she really does have a brilliant mind and that is what is needed on the top floor.
Unfortunately, if she’s on the ticket, it reinforces the ‘more of the same’ message which the Republicans will be keen to get away from.
Indeed the buzz this morning is that Palin will be the paladin. NPR reported that a plane from Alaska touched down in Cincinnati. Since Alaska is a safe GOP state, the
—OK, a student came in and I stopped mid-sentence until after McCain’s pick was announced. I was going to continue:
intent is instead to try to win the great state of Hillariana, and a chunk of its 18+ million votes. Plus it reinforces his own “maverick” and “change” themes.
Now one point of comparison: There was talk about McCain picking Lieberman, and largely for the same reasons—mainly the second. But on the first, I think it would have backfired: Hillary voters would instead have seen it as a second betrayal by members of their party, and it would have seemed distasteful.
The third commenter here alleges the same about the Palin pick. I’m halfway to agreeing, and the onus on McCain will be to put across why he wants this person to be teamed with him. This will be needed because Obama made it clear that Biden was a long-term-vision rather than short-term-tactical choice.
looks like you had inside info! 🙂
Wow, good call.
I was expecting Tatu from Fantasy Island.

C hess F riends R ule. I Believe Susan Polgar will soon seek some sort of position in government. It is a logical conclusion of her ” PAWN STRUCTURE “, which dictates where a game goes. Chess logic indeed. C hess F riends R ule!!!!
