Humpy Koneru wins the Ankara Women’s Grand Prix but she lost the big battle. She finished third overall in the Grand Prix standings and therefore lost out the right to challenge Women’s World Champion Hou Yifan again for the title.  By finishing second, Anna Muzychuk earned enough points to finish in second place overall.

Correction: According to FIDE rules, only the top 3 results will count. (Grand prix points were then allocated according to each player’s standing in the tournament: 160 grand prix points for first place, 130 for second place, 110 for third place, and then 90 down to 10 points by steps of 10. In case of a tie in points the grand prix points are shared evenly by the tied players. Players only counted their best three tournament results. The player with the most grand prix points is the winner.)

Anna Muzychuk has the 2nd most points overall. However, by eliminating the worst results of the 4 events and only counting the best three, Humpy Koneru finished 2nd. She will therefore earn the right to play for the title again.
