The 2015 Puerto Rico Men’s Chess Championship took place from October 9th through October 18th, in Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Bayamon.
The event was a 9-round Swiss open tournament with the time control 90’ + 30”.
The 15-year-old WIM Danitza Vazquez Maccarini emerged a convincing winner with 8/9 points, leaving the nearest follower a full point behind. Vazquez Maccarini grabbed the trophy and added 102 new Elo points to her rating.
The first seed IM Alejandro Montalvo Rosario remained second with 7 points, while the third place was shared in a three-way tie by Juan Jose Davila Blanco, Julio Guzman Freire and Marcel Matta Calvente, after the whole group finished the event with 6 points.
