GM Abhijeet Gupta too concurred with experts and admitted that Viswanathan Anand made a mistake in the 45th move. “Anand should have played Ra1in the 5th move and not what he really did. It (loss) will certainly hurt him. He must recover and go for a win quickly in the next few games. For in the later stage Carlsen armed with a lead may make things difficult for Anand,’’ said Abhijeet.

Srija meets Susan

Sixteen-year old Srija Seshadri of Tamil Nadu who is one of most promising youngsters in the country with an ELO rating on 1991 is great fan of Susan Polgar. Srija who is the Asian u-14 and u-12 champion bagging golds in both the events was keen to meet Susan and today managed to meet and take a photograph with her. Srija believes that Susan is an inspiration for all the players in her age group.

Another Anand fan

Arjuna award winning Indian table tennis player S Raman who is a lover of chess was at the venue today to watch Anand play. “I generally follow chess once in a while on the net. Since Anand was playing here (Chennai) naturally I wanted to see the match. It was interesting, the only problem was that there was no live commentary for the audience,’’ said Raman.
