Susan you are acting like a US citizen by putting forth this question. I’d rate you as the most prominent US chess player although I don’t even know if you ever represented USA. You blog is one of most important events in this age to make chess popular all over the world. However, I don’t like this question of rating the already rated ‘grand’ masters further. They were all great chess players and US citizens just like you.
When did Morphy represent the U.S.?
Fischer, but a case can certainly be made for Paul Morphy. Although he never technically “represented” the U.S., he put America on the the map as far as chess was concerned.
