Carlsen!
Carlsen way over rated…
Mamed and Aronian will be top guys
“Spectacular career”? I’d have to go with Carlsen. His chess may or may not match the others, but because Norway is such an “outsider”, his career will be “spectacular” (i.e., it is bound to be quite the spectacle).
Aronian, if he keeps loving the game.
Radja, Karjakin and Aronian (without any particular order) are my choices.
Carlsen lacks of positional understanding, unlike Karjakin. He is too young, so has time to solve this (big, by the time) defect.
I think Mamedyarov is a step under the other three. I believe he will become in a kind of Svidler.
Lastly, although Navara’s tournament was impressive, he hasn’t a solid play for being a near 2800 GM.
Right now based on results I have to say that Radjabov will be around for a long time playing chess. He seems to have broken through to the very top.
I am a Carlsen fan. However, I am worried. Carlsen needs to make some changes. I think he got where he is mostly on his own. I think he has to open up to including more help from others. He needs really top notch help and soon before he gets older. I think someone said he has 24 games in a row without a win. That has to be hard on him.
Aronian is doing nicely and so is Karjakin.
I expect to see Shak Mamedyarov playing at the top for a long time also. He is good.
My choice is Mamedyarov he will be champion in some years I am sure of this 🙂
After him Karjakin and Radja my choices for followers.
Other: Hou Yifan
Based on Corus? Radjabov 5 1/2 out of 7 with the black pieces. The only ones who drew him with white were Anand, Kramnik and Topalov. Heck he had black against the three top rated players in the world and co-won the tournament. had he gotten 4 1/2 out of 6 in his white games (that is, slightly worse then his ratio with black, as opposed to the 3/6 he got), he would have won by 1 1/2 points.
If you look at the details of his win it’s quite spectacular already. The sole question is if he can build on that.
Radjabov
Aronian
Mamedyarov
Karjakin
Nepo (from group C)
Navara
Carlsen is not the same caliber as the these other players
Hou Yifan would have a great future getting lucky gambling at Las Vegas.
Round 11 and 12 two GMs left a queen for her to take, round 13 she lost to Negi in an average childrens game.
13 yr old Parimarjan Negi of India.
Everytime someone claims Mamedyrov is not as talented as other prodigies I can’t help but think he’s currently NUMBER 4 IN THE WORLD.
It’s hard to tell with Yifan. Will she have a breakthough and follow Judit or will she hover around 2550?

I think it will be the 3rd man of the Topalov/Danailov-connection. In the 2nd half of this year the 3rd man will play the games on his own.
It’s very hard to say, but Carlsen obviously has a lot of years to improve his game. What ratings did the others have at age 16?
