Topalov – Svidler
Another epic battle. This is the battle between 1st against 2nd place. Topalov is leading by 1.5 points with 3 games to go. He also has 2 Whites and only 1 Black in the final 3 games. Svidler is only 1/2 point ahead of Anand. Both Svidler and Anand have 2 Blacks and 1 White. The World Championship title lies in this round. If Topalov win or draws, it is 99.99% over. However, if Svidler wins, watch out! Anything can happen in the final 2 rounds.
I believe the game will be a fighting draw. Yes, I realize that Svidler does want to win but he cannot play carelessly because Anand can pass him by.
Morozevich – J. Polgar
After a hot streak, Morozevich barely escaped with a draw against Topalov. He was outplayed by Svidler in the last round. However, he is still in clear 4th with an even score. I expect Morozevich to push for the win. My sister of course will not back down from a tough fight.
This game is a toss up.
Leko – Anand
Leko is at -1. Anand is in 3rd place, 1/2 point behind Svidler. Both want to win. Leko wants to get back to the .500 mark. Anand wants to catch Svidler. It will be a fight but not a major battle.
I expect the game to be a draw with some minor fireworks.
Kasimdzhanov – Adams
Adams is only 1/2 point behind Kasimdzhanov. Kasim wants to end with a respectable score. I expect this game to be a fight with Kasim pushing for the win.
This will be a fighting draw with a small edge to Kasim.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I hope Topalov will win tomorrow and secure the title.
Go Topy!
Well I am from India but after Kasparov, I have been hooked by Topalov ever since he entered the world scene around 95-96.for a change we have a guy who fights for win at all time.
Hope Topalov Wins..

Susan,
The image of the alien abduction is quite funny- perhaps indicative of your sense of humor?
Topalov-Svidler should be interesting; if the former wins it would certainly be a marvelous way to cap off San Luis. I’m a bit frustrated with Leko’s performance thus far, though. He seems to have so much talent and insight, but perhaps he lacks the daring qualities that Topalov has. The failure of his Sveshnikov has been part of the problem, too. Ironically, when he finally is able to mount pressure on his opponent after …f5 against Morozevich he blunders (due to time trouble?). He’ll have other chances, as will Judit.
By the way, I annotated one of your ’92 games against Gaprindashvili on the respective posting – perhaps you can glance at it for any mistakes or comments.

glued to my chair in front of my computer today. the topalov svidler game will be important.
I always watch the Polgar game the closest. I sure hope she wins today. however, I am not unhappy with her draw yesterday. so much better than all the loses.
I guess we can now see why there are so many draws. those like Anand who are close to even are in a respectable position in the tournament. and those who went all out to win but took some loses like Judit are down the chart or like Topalov at the top.
but over the long haul. drawing keeps one in the game.
Tommy
Topy deserves to win. He has shown the greatest fighting spirit till now!!
