I don’t like 2. Re8+ because the King can hide back in the corner while Black has to deal with counterplay against his largely undefended King.
I don’t like 2. Bd4+ because 2…Kd3 doesn’t seem to let Black continue the attack. 2…Ke2? conveniently allows 3. Re8+ which probably leads to a skewer of the White Queen, but I don’t see a good place to move the Bishop after 2…Kd3. Sure, you get a discovered attack, but the Bishop can’t hit anything, and there’s nothing to force White to move the King onto the e-file so that the Rook can be brought in without losing tempo.
My first thought was 1.Re4?! taking advantage of the pin on the f-pawn to pile on the Rook, but after 1…Rfc1, I don’t see a good way to continue. Certainly not 2. Rc8?? 3. Instant Death
1. Rxe3, Kxe3
2. Re8+, Kf2
3. Bd4+, Kg3
4. Qg5, Kh2
5. Re2, …
I think black will win soon!
Luigi
1…Rxe3
2. Kxe3 (2. Qxe3 Qxc4) Bd4+
3. Ke2 (the bishop can’t be captured or the Qb3 goes) Re8+
too many variations now… for example:
4. Kd2 Bc3+
5. Kxc3 Re3+
6. Kb2 Rxb3+ and Qd3+ winning the Rf1
Re4! Rc1
Rxe3 Kxe3
Bh6 Bxc1 gets a piece
1. Rxe3 Kxe3
2. Re8+ Kf2
3. Bd4+ Kg3
4. Qe5+ Kh4
5. Qf4+ g4
6. Bf6+

This is why I am….

How about?
1. Rxe3 Kxe3
2. Re8+ Kf2
3. Bd4+ Kg3
4. Qd6+ Kh4
5. Qf4#
Eh, disregard. 2. Re8+ works fine because Black’s King can run to h5 and there’s no way to keep up the checks or cover the checkmate square.
