As black is threatening mate (with the sequence Ra1+, Qa7+, Qa2+, Qc2#) white has to act fast.
I would simply take on b7 (1.Qxb7) which would threaten mate (Rh8) and prevent black’s Qa7+ above.
There might be some more immediate tactics available to white but taking the b7 pawn looks fine.
Beelze
I agree with Beelze. White must do one of two things- either start checking with his first move, or cover the a7 square to prevent Black’s mating combination.
The only winning plan is Qb7 that I can see. I don’t find a defense for black either- there is no way to prevent a rook coming to h8 for mate, and there is no blocking the check.
what if knight capture f5?? i think white can win in 2 step…

I think black can still have at least a draw after
1. Qxb7 Ra1+
2. Kxa1 Nxc2+
Does anybody bother about reading the previous posts here? Obviously 1.Nf?? is nonsense due to black’s mating attack pointed out by Beelze at 9:13.
Also, I do not think black has a perpetual after 1.Qxb7 Ra1+ 2.Kxa1 Nc2+ as the white king seems to be able to escape with his queen on b7…
The anonymous commenter at 1:26 p.m. makes a point that needs to be addressed. I missed Nxc2 in the Ra1 line for black, but I think this is the line that holds off white the longest number of moves, but, in the end, White forces the exchange of queens after black has sacrificed both knights and one of the rooks trying for perpetual. I may have missed something here (I don’t have a board to do this with at the moment since I am at work).
1. Qb7 Ra1
2. Ka1 Nc2
3. Kb1 Na3
4. Ka2 Qd2
5. Ka3 Qb2
6. Ka4 Qa2
7. Kb4 Nd3
8. Kc4 Nb2
9. Kc3 Na4
10. Kb4 Qd2
11. Ka4 Qa2
12. Kb4 Qd2
13. Ka3 Qd6
14. Qb4 and white wins with the exchange of queens.
I did miss something at the end- Ra8 check. Hmmm… back to the drawing board.
I have to admit that I can’t see a way to prevent perpetual check. May be time for a beer.
This must be wrong. I couldn’t find anything else than the perps, so I gave up and asked Rybka. The little fish agreed. No white win.
@ Yancey Ward:
1. Qb7 Ra1
2. Ka1 Nc2
3. Kb1 Na3
4. Ka2 Qd2
5. Ka3 Qb2
Why Ka4 now?
5. Kb4! Nd3+
6. Kc4 and no more checks.
5. .. Nd5+
6. Kc4 Ne3+
7. Kc5 and again white wins.
