Webster University freshman grandmaster Ray Robson has just been selected to the U.S. national team. He and four other grandmasters will represent the United States at the Pan American Team Championship in Campinas, Brazil, Jan. 24-30. The winning team will qualify for the World Team Championship.

Robson, who just recently turned 18, will be the youngest member of the team.

His roommate and Webster teammate, 19-year-old grandmaster Wesley So, was selected a few weeks ago to represent the Philippines and Webster University at the World University Chess Championship. That event will take place in Kazan, Russia, July 6-17, 2013.

Both will represent Webster, the top-ranked Division I college team in the nation, at the upcoming Pan American Intercollegiate Chess Championship at Princeton University Dec. 27-20.
