Due to the last minute visa problem, a few players could not make it. Therefore, Mr. Ian Wilkinson, President of the Jamaican Chess Federation, is looking for 1 GM, 1-2 IMs and 1 FM to fill in for a special tournament starting next week.

Sounds like a great place to play chess.
ahhh, too bad. I just missed two weeks of school for Aeroflot or I would totally go to this tournament!
As a GM, I’m qualified to go, but I do not have the funds to travel. Unfortunately, playing a game does not pay the bills for most GMs that have chosen to make a board game their profession.
im not a very good chess player – but I could afford to go – guess every move / choice we make counts

Chess pros have a hard time make a good stable living if they are not the best.
Just imagine if you are a golf pro.
So are you a full time player or just play on the side now?
