YOUNG VISUALLY DISABLED WOMAN BECAME THE NATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION IN PUERTO RICO

(CyberNews) – Young woman Natasha Morales Santo has just made history when she became the Champion of the Puerto Rico National Women Chess Championship 2014, this Championship was celebrated from February 28th to March 2nd in the Museum and Center of Humanistic Studies doctora Josefina Camacho de la Nuez in Turabo University.

Morales Santos ended her chess day with 4.5 points of 5 winning over some of the event’s favorites as Danitza Vázquez Maccarini, Hilzandryly Pacheco Medina and Rinelly M. Comas Colón. In this Tournament were participating the best women chess players in the country. With this achievement, Natasha became the first visually disabled Puerto Rican woman who has won the National Women Chess Championship in Puerto Rico.

Natasha Morales Santos is from Ponce and is studying at Ponce High, her first steps in chess data from 2010.

In 2011, Natasha took part in the 6th Central America and Caribbean Youth Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she won the silver medal in the U14 girls. That year, she also became the national champion U 14 girls in the Puerto Rico Chess Championship, and also became Champion or the School Sports League of the Sports and Recreation Department and Education Department of Puerto Rico.
