Countries throughout Latin America have been invited to compete in the Nov. 22-29 event, open to women university students under the age of 27.

Organized by the Chess Confederation for America and the Venezuelan Chess Federation, the event will feature grand masters, international masters and masters certified by the World Chess Federation (FIDE), the ministry said.

“The tournament will be played under the Swiss system of nine rounds,” with 90-minute matches, the ministry said.

Players will be competing for trophies awarded for first, second and third place, and trophies will also be awarded to the three leading universities, the ministry added.
