French Rapid Grand Prix
The first tournament of the French Rapid Grand Prix series took place in Port-Marly on 7-8 January 2012. Seven qualifiers from the 9 round Swiss preliminary were joined by GM Fressinet who was invited by organisers directly into the final KO stage.
1/4 final
David – Bacrot 1½-2½
Gharamian – Vachier-Lagrave ½-1½
Tregubov – Fier ½-1½
Istratescu – Fressinet ½-1½
Semifinals:
Bacrot – Fier 0-2
Fressinet – Vachier-Lagrave ½-1½
Final:
Fier – Vachier-Lagrave ½-1½
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave took the first prize of 4,000 euros. The total prize fund was 15,000 euros.
The next stages of the Grand Prix will take place on April 28-29 in Nancy, on 21-22 July in Aix-les-Bains and on 6-7 October in Villandry. The Masters will be held in Bastia.
