USCF 2007 Pan-Am Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship Underway in Washington, DC

(Crossville, TN) The U.S. Chess Federation announces that the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), under the direction of Organizer Dr. Alan Sherman, hosts this years Pan-Am Intercollegiate Chess Championship.

Chess battles between 24 college teams, including Harvard, Yale, University of Toronto, Catholic University of Peru, Miami Dade, University of Texas at Dallas, UMBC, Duke and University of Virginia began December 27 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC and will conclude December 30.

The top four teams from the 2007 Pan-Am will go on to face each other in the Final Four of College Chess to be held March 24 and 25, 2007 in Dallas.
