University lodging for Al Ain Chess Classic
The Al Ain Chess Club announced today that the UAE University shall provide lodging to registered participants in the $30,000 Al Ain Chess Classic from 21st to 29th December 2012. The Al Khataiba Hostel shall be opened to chess players during the year-end holidays with token charge for meals and services.
The Hostel boasts single rooms with bath. Facilities include a canteen and kiosk, basketball and football grounds, recreation room, gym, free internet and computer room. Full board and services shall be available for a token $25 per day.
The Al Ain Classic is open to FIDE rated players. In the unique Al Ain system format of a Swiss tournament, players eliminated from the concurrent World Cities Chess Team Championship may join and carry over their points from an equivalent number of rounds in the Preliminaries, Round-of-16 or Quarterfinals.
