Vietnamese chess player impresses at German championship
Vietnamese chess player Le Quang Liem has unexpectedly won the runner-up title at the Sparkassen Chess-Meeting Dortmund 2010 with a score of 5.5/10.
Although Liem was the youngest player and was the bottom rated at the championship, which was attended by two former world champions and a former runner-up, Liem played very confidently and lost only one game against the champion, Ponomariov from Russia.
Le Quang Liem was born in 1991 in Ho Chi Minh City. He won the World Youth Chess Championship for under-14 players in 2005 and an Asian Youth Chess Championship for under-16 players in 2006.
He is now rated one of the world’s top 10 junior players and the world’s top 50 players.

Hi, Susan. I believe Lie lost against Mamedyarov, not against Ponomariov. It was his only loss. He beat Pono in their first game there.
Some people just won’t check their facts before publishing incorrect pieces.
Quang Liem beat Ponomariov and lost to Shak.
