The UIL Chess Puzzle Solving event took place on Saturday March 5, 2011 at Laurel Mountain Elementary during the Region 6 Chess Championships. There were two timeslots offered for participants (8:00am-8:30am AND 11:30am-12:00pm).

The event (sponsored by the Susan Polgar Foundation) was a huge success with 94 participants from grades K-12. Special valuable chess prizes were awarded to the top finisher(s) in the K-3, 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12 grade section. Also attending the event was Associate Director of UIL, David Trussell, Jan Richards (Principal, Laurel Mountain Elementary), Johanna Kelley (Vice Principal, Laurel Mountain Elementary) and Barbara Paris (Principal, Canyon Vista Middle School).
