UAE Women Open Chess Olympiad Campaign Against Mexico

DRESDEN – The 38th Chess Olympiad began with a spectacular opening ceremony, which took place in a giant ice skating hall here.
Delegations from 152 nations saw a very impressive show.

UAE begin the campaign in the women’s section against Mexico and the team members Jamila Juma, Kulood Eassa, Noora Saleh, Faiqa Saleh and Amnah salem were confident of a good performance.

Team coach Grandmaster Guliev Sarhan said there are new rules in place for this Olympiad and individual board medals will be decided by ELO rating performance rather than scores.

The UAE Men’s team consist of Salem A.R. Saleh, Jassim A.R.Saleh, Hassan Abdullah, Ali Abdul Khaleq and Othman Moussa. The men’s team coach is Grandmaster Khengis. Salem will be aiming to complete the grandmaster title.

Sulaiman Al Fahim, the president of UAE chess Federation, is heading the 23-member delegation and UAE is expected to make a major bid for future official events.
