Perhaps but I doubt Texas will not suffer too much since a) they have the most number of USCF members (then TCA members) of any state b) the most number of strong college chess programs (TTU, UTD, UTB/SC) and c) probably the most amount of money for chess of any state. Texas would not suffer the rest of the country would. Chess players would emigrate in large numbers to the great chess country of Texas.
