Kasimdzhanov – Topalov

The reigning FIDE World Champion versus the man who will take his title in 3 days. Kasimdzhanov is playing for respectability. Topalov needs 1 point in the last 2 rounds to guarantee the crown outright. Topalov has been very smart by playing cautiously. I don’t expect anything to change unless Kasim decides to make a point.

I predict a draw with little excitement.

Adams – Leko

If you would have told be before the tournament that Leko has a -2 with 2 rounds to go, I would have said that you are out of your mind. But it is true. Leko is at -2 and Adams is at -3. Unless Adams wants to go all out to win his first game, I don’t expect too much to happen.

I predict a draw with minor fireworks.

Anand – Morozevich

Morozevich has cooled down. Anand is heating up. He is at +3 and he is tied for 2nd. Anand will go for the win. The reason is very simple. Anand will face Svidler with the black pieces in the last round. This is his last chance to make a statement with the White pieces. Morozevich will try to hang on to an even score.

I give Anand an edge.

J. Polgar – Svidler

Svidler is very happy with a +3 and the 2nd place position. Judit wants to get out of the cellar. I expect Judit to go for the win while I expect Svidler to play somewhat cautiously to protect his standing.

I give a small edge to Judit.
