Dear friends,

The FIDE Arbiters’ Commission announces the start of the project of the Training of the International Arbiters that was approved in Tallinn FIDE Congress.

The project will include seven (7) workshops that will be organized in 2014 (and before July), in different places (Continents) and in different languages. The workshops will be in English language (one in Europe, one in Asia and one in North America), in Russian (in Europe), in Spanish (in South or Central America), in Arabic (in Asia) and in French (in Africa).

Every workshop will last for a weekend. The lectures will be on Saturday (10.00-14.00 and 16.00-20.00) and Sunday (10.00-14.00) and the participants will depart on Sunday evening. It means that they will stay for one or two nights (Friday and Saturday) in a hotel, in the city where the workshop will be held.

There will be absolutely no charge for any Federation that will organize any of these workshops.

The participants will pay themselves for their travel and accommodation cost, but FIDE will cover partially their expenses, up to 300 euros for maximum 20 participants per workshop.

The maximum number of the participants will be 25 to 30 for every workshop. The final list of participants of every workshop will be approved by the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission.

The priority for the participation of the Arbiters will be according to the following:

(1). Lecturers, (2). IAs of A’ Category, (3). IAs of B’ Category, (4). IAs of C’ Category and (5). IAs of D’ Category.

In the workshop two (2) Lecturers (appointed by the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission) will give lectures and the topics that will be discussed will include: the changes of the laws of Chess valid from 1 July 2014, the title regulations for players and arbiters, the rating regulations, the anti-cheating guidelines, cases (incidents) that happened during the games and anything else will be considered necessary. Their accommodation and travelling expenses will be covered by FIDE.

At the moment the following workshops have been scheduled:

Brussels, Belgium, 25-27 April 2014 (English language)
Moscow, Russia, 23-25 May 2014 (Russian language)
Monastir, Tunisia, 20-22 June 2014 (French language).

The International Arbiters who want to participate in any of the already announced workshops are kindly requested to register their participation by sending an email to the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission (Chairman Takis Nikolopoulos:takisnik@yahoo.com and Secretary Dirk De Ridder: fide_dirkderidder@skynet.be ).The deadline for the registration will be 25 days before the start of the workshop. The list of participants of every workshop will be published 20 days before the start of the workshop.
