Bulgaria set for the European Team Chess Championship
Topalov and Stefanova to play on the first boards

The European Team Chess Championship is set to take place on 21-31st October in Novi Sad, Serbia. Novi Sad is a beautiful city located on the river Danube, south edge of the Pannonian Plain and across the mountain Fruska Gora, and it already hosted the 1990 Chess Olympiad.

Bulgaria is once again sending a strong team with world’s highest rated player Veselin Topalov to play on the first board. Ivan Cheparinov and medalist from Creta Maris, Alexander Delchev, are standard players, while Valentin Iotov established himself as one of the most promising young players. GM Dejan Bojkov concludes the list.

Former World Champion Antoaneta Stefanova is leading the women’s team. Besides the experienced WGM Margarita Voiska there are three young players Nikolova, Videnova and Raeva.
