As the co-chair of FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess, I recently nominated GMs Antoaneta Stefanova (former women’s world champion), Humpy Koneru (#2 ranked female in the world), Zhu Chen (former women’s world champion), and Kateryna Lahno (women’s world blitz champion) to the commission.
I am glad to announce that they all have accepted my nomination. IM Martha Fierro continues her fantastic work as the secretary of the commission, while GMs Xie Jun (former women’s world champion) and Nona Gaprindashvili (former women’s world champion) remain as councillors with GM Stefanova. I will announce the full list of the commission once it is official.
I am looking forward to working with my friends and colleagues to enhance women’s chess worldwide in the next year. I believe that it is very important for these Chess Queens to have a strong voice in shaping up the future of women’s chess.
