More magical chess from Levon Aronian gave him a deserved lead at the SOCAR FIDE Candidates in London, as his third-round opponent Vasily Ivanchuk lost on time for the second successive game. Ivanchuk again played like a genius with just a few seconds left on his clock, but was physically unable to get to the time control at move 40.

An ominous sign these young and Elite GMs are in their own class and ready for the takeover. Magnus, Levon, Teimour, Sergey, Fabio have wide and deep repertoire as they have the ability to create multiple variations at mid-game to confuse opponents, particularly those relatively old/traditional playing GMs.
2013 is Carlsen’s coronation year. No doubt! Whether it is Levon or Magnus, this will be Anand’s toughest defense of his world title. I will give him 40% chance to beat any of these two geniuses in a championship series.
I hate to say he better savor his world crown at the moment while it lasts because it is expiring this year.
1. Stop getting up and walking around waiting for opponent to move — it wastes several seconds of clock time getting back to the board after opponent has moved.
2. Whenever possible, record moves only when opponents clock is running. Players are not obligated to record the last move the opponent made immediately.
These simple things add up to minutes burned!
