1.Qe6+ Kh7 (if 1…Kh8 2.Rxh6+ Nxh6 3.Qxh6+ Kg8 4.Qxg7 mate) 2.Qf5+ Kg8 3.Rf8+! Bxf8 4.exf8+ Qxf8 5.Qg6+ Qg7 6.Qxg7 mate.
Kamalakanta
1. Qe6+ Kh7 (Kh8 .. Rxh6#)
2. Qf5+ Kg8
3. Rf8+ Bxf8
4. exf8=Q+ Qxf8
5. Qg6+ Qg7
6. Qxg7#
Hello.
I think this:
Qe6+, Qf7
Qxf7+ (+-)
If:
Qe6+, Kh8
Rf8+, Qxf8 [Kh7 and Rxe8 Wining black Queen]
exf8=Q+, Rh7
Qfxg7#
If:
Qe6+, Kh7
Qf5+, Kg8
Rf8+, Bxf8
exf8=Q+, Qxf8
Qg6+, Qg7
Qxg7#
1. Rf8+, Bxf8
2. exf8+, Qxf8
3. Qg6++
The first move that pops into my head is
1. Rd6 Rb2
2. Rd8 Nf6
3. Qe6 Kh8
4. Re8 Ne8
5. Qc8 Re2 (nothing else better)
6. Qe8 Kh7
7. Qg6 Kg8
8. e8(Q)Re8
9. Qe8 Kh7
10.Qg6 Kg8
11.Qb6 should win.
At move 3 in the above line moving the king to h7 to prevent the pin on the knight when it retakes at e8 doesn’t work:
3. …..Kh7
4. Re8 Ne8
5. Qg6 Kg8
6. Qe8 Kh7
7. Qg6 wins easily.
There may be better variations for black, but I don’t see them right now. I need a chess board to fully examine them all.
LOL, didn’t see Nf2! I hate knights.
Well, given the threat of Nf2, I need a more forcing line than Rd6.
1. Qe6 Kh7 (Kh8 2. Rh6!! wins)
2. Rf7 Rb2
3. Qg6 and mate on the next move.
Or
2. ……Qf7
3. Qf7 Rb2
4. Qg6 Kg8
5. e8(Q)#
1. Qe6+ Kf7 2. Qf5+ Kg8 3. Rf8+ Bxf8 4. exf8 = Q Qxf8 5. Qg6+ and mate next move.
if 1. Qe6+ Kh8 2. Rf8+
Hope I didn’t overlook anything. 🙂
1. Qe6+ .. Kh7 (Kh8 2.Rf8+ with the B pinned…)
2. Qf5+ .. Kg8 and now the following works:
3. Rf8+ .. Bxf8
4. exf8/R+ .. Qxf8 (Kx’s not possible, that’s the point!)
5. Qg6+ and mate next!
“Always check, it might be mate”
1. Qe6+ Kh7 (1… Kh8 2. Rxh6+ Nxh6 3. Qxh6+ Kg8 4. Qxg7#) 2. Qf5+ Kg8 3. Rf8+
Qxf8 (3… Bxf8 4. exf8=Q+ Qxf8 5. Qg6+ Qg7 6. Qxg7#) 4. exf8=Q+ Bxf8 5. Qe6+
Kh7 6. Qg6# 1-0
Simple
white checks, checks checks checks and mates
with two posts listed, Deep, Dark & Dummy says Q-e6+ forces K-h7 then after Q-e5+ white mates in 4.
1. Qe6 Kh7 (Kh8 leads to Rh6)
2. Rh6 Nh6 (or Bh6)
3. Qg6 Qg6
4. hg and e8=Q leading to mate
How about:
1. Qe6 Kh7 (if Kh8, 2. Rh6#)
2. Qf5 Kg8
3. Rf8 Bf8
4. ef(Q) Qf8
5. Qg6 and mate to follow.
1. Qd6+
after that
1. … Kh7 is forced
2. Qf5+
and either if 2. … Kh8 or 2. … Kg8,
3. Rf8+ wins
Rg6 doesn’t work because of Rxb2 (that damned rook!), also there’s 1. Rf8+ Bxf8 2. exf8=Q+ Qxf8 3. Qg6+ mates, but after 2. … Kxf8 white has nothing.
1. Qe6+ looks good, because after Kh8 [Kh7 2. Rxh6 and either B or Nxh6 3. Qg6+ Qxg6 4. hxg6+ and 5. e8=Q+ and I’m not sure if white is winning or not, but black’s king should be pretty exposed] 2. Rxh6+ Nxh6 (B is pinned!) Qxh6+ and mates.
1. Rf8* looks very strong
1. …Q*R forced
2. Qe6+
Maybe a mate is there
1. Qe6+ Kh8
if 1. … Kh7 2. Qf5+ followed by 3. Rf8+.
2. Rh6+ Nxh6
3. Qxh6+ Kg8
4. Qxg7+ mate
Try
1. Rf8+ Bxf8
2. Qe6+ Kh7
3. exf8=N+ Qxf8
4. Qg6 mate
Alternatives
1. Rf8+ Bxf8
2. Qe6+ Qf7
3. e8=Q Qxe6
4. Qxe6+ Kh7
5. Qg6 mate
1. Rf8+ Qxf8
2. exf8=Q+ Bxf8 ( … Bxf8 3. Qg6+ Bg7 4. Qxg7 mate)
3. Bxf8+ Kxf8
4. Qxg4
But that last line isn’t ideal — White is winning, but it will take awhile. So maybe instead
———-
1.Qe6+ Kh7 ( … Kh8 2. Rxh6+ Nxh6 3. Qxh6+ Kg8 4. Qxg7 mate)
2. Qf5+ Kg8 ( … Kh8 3. Rf8+ Qxf8 4. exf8=Q mate)
3. Rf8+ Bxf8
4. exf8=Q+ Qxf8
5. Qg6+ Qg7
6. Qxg7 mate
Yeah, I like that better.
What’s the matter with …
Qe6+ Kh7 (if Kh8, RF8+)
Qf5+ Kg8
Rf8+ Q/Bxf8
e7xf8 B/Qxf8
followed by mate on g7?!
1Qe6+ Kh7
2Qf5+ Kg8
3Rf8+ Bxf8
4exf8(Q)+ Qxf8
5Qg6+ and mate next
Vlad D Toronto
1 Qe5+ Kh8
2.Rf8+
1.Qe6 Kh7
2.Qf5 Kg8
3.Rf8 Bf8
4.ef8(Q) Qf8
5.Qg6 Qg7
6.Qg7++
1. Qe6+ Kh7 (1… Kh8 2. Rxh6#)
2. Qf5+ Kg8
3. Rf8+ Bxf8 *
4. exf8+ Qxf8
5. Qg6+
1-0
* or if 3… Qxf8
4. exf8+ Bxf8
5. Qg6+
The white queen on f5 prevents Kxf8. That is the reason for maneuvering the queen with Qe6+ & Qf5+
1. Qe6+ Kh7 (1…Kh8 2. Rf8+ wins because the B is pinned) 2. Qf5+ Kg8 3. Rf8+ B:f8 4. efQ+ Q:f8 5. Qg6+ Qg7 7. Q:g7#
1. Qe6+ Kh7
2. Qf5+ Kg8
3. Rf8+! Bxf8
4. exf8Q+ Qxf8
5. Qg6 mates
The main sequence appears to be
1. Qe6+ Kh7
2. Qg6+ Qxg6
3. hxg6+ Kxg6
4. e8=Q+
Phil
1. Qe6+ Kh7 (1. … Kh7 2. Rf8+ Qxf8 3. exf8(Q)+ Kh7 4. Qg6#)
2. Qf5+ Kg8
3. Rf8+ Bxf8
4. exf8(Q)+ Qxf8
5. Qg6+ Qg7
6. Qxg7#
Qg6

Deep, Dark & Dummy mistyped Q-e5+ intending of course Q-f5+ with mate in 4.
Qe6+ Kh8 Rf8+ Qxf8 Exf8- Queens+;Kh7 Qg6#
