Where’s Nakamura?
Any idea when will be the confirmation for the final tournament venue?
Nice field but Nakamura could give a blindfold simul to this group and get 7.5/8
I love these Anon fellows who keep harping on the ( mysterious and invisible) “talents” of Nakamura. Hope they soon find their way out of their delusion(7.5/8 in simul for Nakamura, you must be kidding or punch drunk!)
Well, there are a number of top players that are missing, but chalk that up to FIDE’s flawed system. At least the top player in the world is in the mix this time 🙂 … and all 8 are in the top 17 of the current list (top 14 if you exclude Gelfand who gets in automatically due to losing to Anand last time around. If you are missing Naka what about Karjakin, Topalov, and Mamedyarov? … oh, and tone down the hyperbole. Naka is a good player and provides fun games but your assessment of his prowess is a BIT overstate 😉
Interesting factoid…only 4 of top 5 players from current list getting in and ALL 4 of them are getting in based on rating (assuming the wild card was chosen as the highest rated player not otherwise already in). All of the others got in based on their performance several years back in a series of tournaments ultimately boycotted by several top players.
How irritating, more oil than you could wish for + wonderkid in chess
and all goldmedals in skiing.
