While the USCF’s held insurance to defend against lawsuits, the USCF is now approaching insolvency (it is now apparently imposing a four-day workweek for USCF employees and has set up a legal defense fund) because of the affirmative lawsuits it has filed against Ms. Polgar both here and in Illinois. Both suits have cost the USCF, based on the USCF’s latest financial report, nearly $600,000 in legal fees over the past two years.

The individuals who are responsible for this unauthorized spending which puts the USCF in a dire financial situation are Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry, Bill Hall, Randy Hough, and Randy Bauer.
There are 8 candidates in the current USCF EB election who support these unauthorized lawsuits which cost the USCF hundreds of thousands of dollars (which caused the USCF to approach insolvency). They are Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry, Mike Atkins, Ruth Haring, Mike Nietman, and Brian Mottershead, etc.
The only 3 candidates who opposed violating the bylaws and advocate for a responsible and professionally run USCF are IM Blas Lugo, Dr. Mikhail Korenman, and Dr. Eric Hecht.
My biggest problem is Bill Goichberg, Bill Hall and Jim Berry authorized the USCF to pay legal fees for Bogner, Mottershead, Lafferty AND Continental Chess which is Goichberg’s for profit company. This is a major conflict of interest. It is wrong to abuse USCF members’ money.
They also clearly violated the bylaws and laws when they refused to indemnify Polgar OR refer the matter to an independent counsel. If you read the court filings, Kronenberger CLEARLY mislead Judge Patel when he said that David Herman is the independent counsel in IL and Herman said no to indemnification.
Herman wrote that he said no such thing and he’s certainly NOT an independent counsel. This gave Polgar’s attorneys serious ammunition and this also puts the USCF in big legal problems. This is a mistake that can cost the USCF big money.
The other problem is Kronenberger was caught contacting Chubb Insurance to cut Polgar and Truong’s insurance coverage in the Sloan’s frivolous lawsuit which was dismissed.
Goichberg, Berry, Bauer and Hough voted to allow Kronenberger to try to cancel Polgar’s coverage as a dirty disgusting tactic to bankrupt her for their political gain. He wasn’t hired for that purpose anyway and he overstepped his bound.
This also shows the unethical conduct of Goichberg, Hall and Berry. They played dirty and they’re caught, just as they’re caught bribing at least 2 individuals last year in Dallas.
Goichberg has a long history of corruption. He keeps on recruiting people to support his personal and political agenda because he employs them or give them favors.
Goichberg recruited Jim Berry, Mike Atkins, Ruth Haring, Brian Mottershead, and others to run with him in this election so he can keep control even though he’s about to bankrupt the USCF.
If the voters vote for Goichberg, Haring, Berry, Atkins, Nietman, Mottershead, or Sloan, they have no one to blame for destroying the USCF but themselves.
Bill Hall purposely hid the facts from the USCF members. He instead posted full of lies to mislead the USCF members to protect his job. Goichberg, Berry, Hall and their gang are all involved in this. Disgusting to use the USCF website and Chess Life to smear GM Polgar.
Bill Hall once again lies to the USCF members. Polgar’s lawsuit is being covered by the USCF insurance. Most of the $600,000 spent by Goichberg, Berry and Hall were used to investigate and file lawsuits against other board members, delegates, volunteers, etc. How can this man keep his job while he caused the USCF to be sued by ChessCafe and other parties, and he’s also directly responsible for the USCF losing nearly $1 million under his watch?
Let USCF go bankrupt.
A new chess federation for scholastic and professional chess players is needed!
Let USCF die! Let Continental Chess Die! Let Chess Politicians die (of old age).
Long live Polgar Chess!
And now the next episode of “As The Stomach Turns”. Sounds like a lot of dirty politics is afoot in the USCF. I personally don’t keep up with the USCF. I just like to play chess. I for one will not be renewing my membership. I hate to see good money go to bad people. Chess was never about money. It was about the pure enjoyment of the game. In a world where your performance is rated on every chess website why should we give these guys our hard earned money just to send us our rating on a mailing label along with a useless magazine. I mean do YOU actually read the magazine? I don’t. I’m too busy playing the game. The really bad part of all this is the fact that many of those who play the game are kids. Now these kids are being exposed not to the more noble aspects of mankind like integrity and leadership but to the ignoble and baser aspects of greed, a thirst for power, and dishonesty. Way to go guys! That’s the way to teach our nation’s kids! What a joke. A very sad joke. USCF = Unsolvent Snobbish Crooked Farce
The problem is Goichberg relies solely on his chess income. By letting go of his control, he stands to lose a lot of money. The USCF can never get better as long as Goichberg and Berry are in charge.
I just voted today!
I voted: Lugo, Korenman, Hecht, and Polgar!
Good for you No more Goichberg Speeches!
