Overrated in my opinion: Chessdom (can have interesting stuff, but tends to be pathetically pro-Topalov), FIDE (not much useful up-to-date information).
1) Chessbase
2) Susan’s Blog
3) Jeremy Silman
4) TWIC
5) Chesscafe
Chessgames.com is first by a lot, followed by
many of the others mentioned previously
Susan Polgar, Chessdom, and twic are the best, they bring fresh news. Chessbase is slow, very slow, and the rest are not regularly updated, so the mentioned above are clearly the best.
1) Chessbase
2) Susan’s Blog
3) Chess & Strategy
4) TWIC
5) Chesscafe
In particular @Anonymous yesterday 9:37PM: In a way, we are comparing apples and oranges – what do we want:
– just plain news (results and game scores)?
– also in-depth coverage (reports from tournaments, photos, game analyses, …)?
– discussions with other chess fans: here Dailydirt and Chessvibes provide most ‘depth’ [though things can get out of hand with personal insults etc.].
Susan Polgar’s site has, to my taste, too many comments of the type “Go Chucky!” or “Topalov is the best”. And discussions never go into detail because topics disappear from the front page too quickly – a drawback of the QUANTITY of information provided !?
Finally, I would like to mention Daaim Shabazz’ Chessdrum site: not part of my regular (daily or even weekly) diet, but clearly containning original information which isn’t found _anywhere_ else.
