Ramesh Babu Praggnanandhaa has turned many heads after a high profile victory in the under-8 Chess Championships held in the UAE last week. The prodigy won every match in both formats – Blitz and standard, on his way to a comprehensive clean-sweep.

The 2005 born star played a total of 11 matches in the competition winning them all with a record 11 points. To moot, Babu was the only player who ended with a perfect cent percent record amongst the 1850 players who competed in all age groups. He has now taken his FIDE rating to 1852.

The nation will be fervently hoping their new star can replicate the same form in the Indian’s next venture which will be later this year in Durban, South Africa in the under-10 category.
