Thanks, Susan. Just downloaded it. Very cool.
Had someone query how to buy more books – tap on Library (you need the i button in the top right if you’re on an iPhone or iPod touch) and then you’ll see the icon for Store. In there, more books!
This seems like an excellent idea! Wish I had thought of it first.
All these different proprietary formats are a mess for the consumer.
This app (name of it is never made clear in the video) is available only for Apple, not for Android, nor for KindleFire, nor for Windows Phone (market share will grow substantially in next 12-18 months).
This fragmentation cannot last.
This app, which as you can see is called e+chess, is only available for Apple just now for the simple reason that that is the only secure method of distribution. The chess book and DVD industry is being destroyed by illegal copying.
Android and Kindle Fire are options, provided distribution is secure…
Have to agree with another commenter on restrictive, costly proprietary formats. I won’t buy anything that’s not in an open document format, and that has ZERO to do with security or distribution; it has to do with protecting the consumer from being locked into a corporate-controlled format that imposes strict USER (not distribution) limits their use of the products they purchase. I’m not going to resell the ebook, but if I choose to buy a different tablet, I shouldn’t lose my money.
Only 10 books available? They should be adding books quickly!
A REAL app would be able to take any book and scan for the symbols and you can use it immediately instead of having to be programmed for the app. hehe – yes that would be hard, but 10 books???
The good thing is the app itself is free!
I have downloaded this app onto my ipad 2. The free book Chess fundamentals is great way to get used to with this app. The book is also very resourceful.
I bought silman endgame book as well with this app. No words to explain. Simply fantastic.
For someone who has very little time and IQ to work on a board, this is great gift. books are cheap too.

In Android there is an alternative to e+chess called Chesster. It becomes ePub books to an interactive format.
