Today is the last day off of the Dresden Olympiad. It is still snowing outside and the weather is getting a tiny bit colder. But for many players, it is a treat to see snow for the first time.

It was announced after today’s early session of the FIDE Congress that Turkey will be the host of the 2012 Chess Olympiad.

The final round of the Olympiad will take place at 10 AM (Dresden time) and NOT the normal 3 PM. The closing ceremony will be at 8 PM at the International Congress Center.

Tomorrow’s press conference will take place at noon. Some of the guests include FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, key Olympiad organizers Dirk Jordan and Jorn-Torsten Verleger, etc.

The medal race in both Olympiads is still wide open. It will all come down to which teams have better mental toughness.
