Webster University is the powerhouse of collegiate chess, having claimed four straight President’s Cups.
Now the team will attempt to add the PRO Chess League title to its overflowing trophy case.
Led by Olympiad gold medalist GM Ray Robson (2674 September 2016 FIDE), the Webster Windmills boast an impressive roster featuring GMs Aleksandr Shimanov (RUS, 2638), Vasif Durarbayli (AZE, 2612), Priyadharshan Kannapan (IND, 2534), Fidel Corrales Jimenez (USA, 2534), and Ashwin Jayaram (IND, 2468).
This very international squad is rounded out by two IMs (Irine Sukandar from Indonesia and team manager Eric Rosen), WGM Katerina Nemcova and nearly 2400-rated Aaron Grabinsky. Note that the non-GMs will get a lot of playing time, as the team average has to be under 2500 for matches.
