WOW!!!! The beards and the long hair!!! ;))))
cool stuff, Susan! Is this the 70s ?? 😀
i cannot recognise anyone!!!! :S
hey wait…….
Isn’t that John Nunn??!?!!??
And Yasser Seirawan!!????!!!???
damn….those 70s disguises are hard!!! 😉 hehehe
fun thread! i hope someone can recognise some!!!!
I recognize for sure: Bent Larsen, Yasser Seirawan, Vassily Smyslov, John Nunn, Predrag Nikolic,…
Am I right so far, Susan?
I know for sure Jonathon Mestel- with the big beard!
Let’s see: I think I recognize Lev Alburt (top, far right), Anatoly Lein (top, next to Alburt), Ulf Andersson (top, far left), John Nunn (bottom, far left) and Smyslov (second to top rank, second from right), but I’d only bet any money on Alburt.
I will guess to add to others (not repeating earlier answers mentioned), Murray Chandler, Nigel Short, and Mark Hebden. Maybe Speelman too?
Dear Susan,
Hi! i recognize few masters but most of the guys did not recognize GM Eugenio Torre(Philippines) The First Asian Grandmaster and The first asian to qualify into candidates matches.God Bless!
Hm, isn’t there GM Robert Huebner on about every second picture???
Top Row – 2nd from the left! Our very own (Filipino) Eugene Torre, GM, who won the Toluca Interzonals in 1982 and later played Zoltan Ribli in a Candidate Match – but unfortunately lost.
All 16 players were:
Lev Albert
Jozsef Pinter
Brito Luizmar
Paul Littlewood
Lubomir Ftacnik
Andrew Jonathan Mestel
Vladimir Liberzon
Murray Chandler
Jonathan Speelman
Robert Bellin
Jaime Sunye Neto
John Peters
Eugenio Torre
Anatoly Lein
sorry I only listed 14. the other 2 are.
Ulf Andersson
Petar Popovic
that now makes all 16
John Peters is bottom row. 2nd over. the blond guy with the big glasses. He still plays chess.
Oh my God! It’s like “FBI’s Most Wanted”!
Arlauk

In Round 1, the first player was white and the 2nd listed player was black.
I recognize for sure: Bent Larsen, Yasser Seirawan, Vassily Smyslov, John Nunn, Predrag Nikolic,…
