Wesley is just a so so player. He is not even close to this level of competition. He just got lucky a lot of players settled for a draw with him. Nakamura will destroy this toddler easily.
How can Wesley So be this good. Talent wise, He’s not even close to the real prodigees like Wei Hi, Caruana, Giri, Karjakin, Ding Lirin, Carlsen and etc etc. That’s why every time he plays for a draw he considers it as huge win.
Oh boy these japs are speeong their hate on wesley because nakamura is not invited
Wow. What a finish. Lagrave won. Ding won. So is winning. Giri drew. That makes four people vying for second place. Carlsen will draw his game to get the top prize.
Not a bad tournament for wesley. He came in at 2762 and came out 2787. The only only spoiler was the loss against giri. Otherwise it was much better than last year tournament. He is now higher than nakamura!!
Not bad indeed. Fourth place finished is an accomplishment. Wesley hold himself up facing with the Elites and with this experienced, he will demolish them all next time around.
Wesley will be facing next the likes of Kramnik, Karjakin, Anand, Giri, Aronian, Carlsen, Topalov, Nakamura etc. Just don’t know how his ranking will hold up. These players were banging heads against each other that’s why their ELO goes up and down while Wesley is AWOL playing in a lowly tournament and padding his rating.
Wesley So was just unlucky against Giri in Round 12. He lose the game partly due to the Reversed Benoni opening prepared by his new coach Norlito Sugardom. It is evident that Wesley is not familiar with the variation and got entangled into an early cramped position.
Another $100,000 for Magnus. This guy is getting richer and modeling is not enough. The three time World Champion is really the real deal. Congrats Magnus.
Time for Nakamura to move to the Japanese chess federation. He can be board#1 for the next 50yrs! The Japanese govt promises that, for he 27 yrs+ old. They respect their elders in Japan. Sayonara Nakamura!
I believe Carlsen earn more than $100,000 that’s including the appearance fee the organizer gave to entice him to play here. Forget the money, he us already a millionaire.
4th place by tiebreaker, 4 people tied for 2nd by half pt. Wesley did well. Much harder to earn pts in open TM, than so called elite TMs. When you play the same people again and again its easier to stay at the top in a closed circle.
