After 6 rounds, some lesser known but talented players are at the top of 2006 Russian Championship.
Here are some of the leaders:
4.5 GM Inarkiev, Ernesto (I met this very nice and talented young man when I visited Moscow earlier this year), GM Timofeev, Artyom, GM Khismatullin, Denis
4.0 GM Malakhov, Vladimir, GM Tomashevsky, Evgeny, GM Khalifman, Alexander, GM Dreev, Alexey, Motylev, Alexander, Grigoriants, Sergey, GM Landa, Konstantin and IM Vitiugov, Nikita
The top Russian woman of the tournament is Kosteniuk with 2 points. According to her publicist, she had a convincing performance against IM Dmitry Sitnikov. Congratulations to Alexandra for a nice game.
Here is the official website of the tournament.
“According to her publicist, she had a convincing performance against IM Dmitry Sitnikov. Congratulations to Alexandra.”
Always ironic about Alexandra.
Why does Kosteniuk claim that she’s #1 in the US? Isn’t she Russian? That’s very deceptive.
Sasha Kosteniuk is a 3-time world champion according to her website. Who did she beat? Kasparov? Topalov? Kramnik?
Hi fellow bloggers, why so harsh on Mrs. Kosteniuk? She accomplished too much, don’t be jelaous.

Because Kosteniuk shamefully lies too much. Why claim 3-time world champion when she won 3 girls’ championship, not even women’s world championship? Why claim #1 in the US when she’s Russian? And she’s not even #1 in the US. Shameful lies.
I wonder why Kosteniuk’s supporters choose to support her lies and deceipt?
Congratulations to Inarkiev!
I’m also glad to see Khalifman playing good chess again. I don’t understand the fabrication of Kosteniuk’s resume? Why lie about winning 3 world championships and being America’s best? She’s the top rated woman player in Russia. Isn’t she proud of that?
To end this discussion,Can we just have a 12 game match between Susan Polgar and Sasha Kosteniuk?
I have no doubt public interest and sponsors will come in droves.

** Please don’t come to Susan’s blog and insult her. Kosteniuk has never won a world championship. She’s never #1 in the world. She has never won an Olympic Gold. Susan won 4 Women’s World Championships, 5 Olympic Gold, never been defeated in the Olympiad and she was #1 in the world when she was 15. What’s the debate?
Alexandra divides her time between Moscow and Florida, and until very recently she WAS rated #1 on the USCF list (June 2006 Top Women regardless of Country, Residence, or Federation).
Why is her performance in this particular event, where she’s the ONLY female player, heavily publicized on this blog? After all, her convincing victory in Mainz was completely ignored.
She’s only 22 years old, is a GM and rated FIDE 2534 – higher than Susan was at the same age.
I’m actually NOT a fan of Alexandra’s method of publicity, but she deserves respect for all that she has accomplished in chess.
I don’t care much about all the lies of Kosteniuk. Personally, I think it’s low class to fake your acomplishments.
