The Norway Chess 2014 super-tournament is scheduled to take place on 2-13th June at the multiple venues, including Aarbakke AS factory at Bryne, Vågen Videregående Skole in Sandnes and Scandic Hotel Stavanger Forus.

Some of the strongest Grandmasters in the world will be vying in a 10-player round robin with an impressive average rating of 2774!

List of participants:

1. Magnus Carlsen – the reigning World champion and number one in June 2014 FIDE Rating List for the record thirty-sixth time
2. Levon Aronian – the World number two and the best Armenian player
3. Alexander Grischuk – the World number three and the reigning champion of the Russian Superfinal 2014
4. Fabiano Caruana – the 21-year-old Italian is a permanent member of the TOP 10 FIDE Rating List. He is considered one of the main contenders for Carlsen’s crown in the years ahead
5. Vladimir Kramnik – he has had the longest World champion tenure among the players participating in the tournament (2000-2006, 2006-2007)
6. Veselin Topalov – former World champion since 2005, when the best Bulgarian player shocked the world with his amazing performance
7. Sergey Karjakin – number 9 in World’s TOP list and the youngest Grandmaster ever (at the age of 12 years and 6 months, 6 months younger than Carlsen when he got his title). Karjakin is the last-year’s winner of Norway Chess
8. Peter Svidler – winner of 7 Russian Championships, World Chess Cup 2011 and 5 Olympic gold medals
9. Anish Giri – the best Junior since 2013 and a stable member of Top 20, curently rated 17th.
10. Simen Agdestein – former trainer of Magnus Carlsen. He crushed Norway’s number two Jon Ludvig Hammer in a match for the final spot in Norway Chess 2014
