Rdh1 wins
Brit-mate
White should simply play
1. Rdh1
Now the threat is Qxg8+…
and the black king is helpless: the white rooks will pay him a visit…
e.g.:
1. … Rxh8
2. Rxh8+ Kf7
3. R1h7++
what if QxR on g8, move the backrank roon to h1, and then mate from there? black cannot prevent
Bryan:
after
1. Qxg8+ Kxg8
2. Rdh1
black can play
2. … Nf8
and now the h7 square is guarded, and White is lost.
Bryan,
On 1.Qxg8+ Kxg8
2.Rdh1 Ng8!
3.Rh8+ Kf7
now the h7 square is protected by the night
> what if QxR on g8, move the backrank roon to h1, and then mate from there? black cannot prevent
then Nf8 and no mate
Bryan, 1. QxR KxQ does not work, due to 2. Rdh1 Nf8, preventing R1h7#, as this knight now cover the square. White looses a tempo this way.
Brit-Mate
Not:
1. Qxg8?? Kxg8
2. Rdh1 Nf8!
.. and the white rook can’t get to h7.
Instead 1. Rdh1! and the knight can’t help defend the king.
1. QxR and White easily wins.
R to G6
White will win
Susan wheres the new puzzzles? do u know how many of the old white puzzles ive done? zzzzzzzz. ok Rockover, winnin instantly! Susan theve been makin theses things since the 1400s, for the next 600 years it should be all BLACK TO MOVE PUZZLES to be fair! RIGHT? or is it the good old boys club? hehehe.
Only Rdh1 wins. If Qg8?? Kg8 Rdh1, Nf8 wins for Black.

The pawns look like a bunch of lawyers standing around waiting for another lawyer to join them – all with their meters ticking.
