On May 26, 2006, Karpov and Spassky played a mini rapid (15′ 3″) match in Corsica. Spassky won the match by the score of 1.5 – .5. The first game was drawn. With the White pieces, Spassky won the second game in a Bishop and Pawn endgame. He was able to take advantage of Karpov’s error.
