Summer Scholastic Tournament Series

Mark your calendars for the second tournament in the series to be held on July 28th!

Event Site: Dunbar College Preparatory Academy (in cafeteria)

Games are played in four sections: K-12 Rated, K-5 Rated, K-12 Unrated, and K-5 Unrated. Players must be members of the United States Chess Federation to compete in the rated divisions (may join at www.uschess.org). There are four rounds in the tournament, and there is a total of 30 minutes maximum per player per game. Sections may be combined if there are insufficient entries (less than six in a section).

On-site registration and check in 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. All players must check in by 10:00 a.m. Later arrival will receive a ½ point bye for the first round.

Schedule: Round 1 at 10:15 a.m., rest to follow ASAP, with a lunch break around 12:30 p.m. There will be a concession stand with pizza, snacks, and drinks available for sale on site. Expected to end by 4:00 p.m.

Entry Fees: $10 by 6/18; $15 by 6/22; $20 on site—if room available (CONTACT US BY 6/14 IF IN NEED OF A REDUCED ENTRY FEE; DONATIONS GLADLY ACCEPTED; ALL PROCEEDS RAISED WILL SUPPORT KIDS IN CHESS)

Prizes: Plaques for the top 3 finishers in each section. The awards ceremony will be at approximately 3:45.

Chess boards and sets will be provided. Bring a chess clock if you have one.
