Son, Liem among world top 20 junior grand masters

Vietnamese International Grand Masters Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Le Quang Liem were ranked among the top 20 junior masters by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
Consistent performances since April lifted Liem’s ranking from 19 to 15 among the juniors with an elo rating of 2,602. Elo ratings are used to calculate the skills of players. Son returned to the list after several months and was 18th with an elo rating of 2,592.
Norwegian Magnus Carlsen topped the rating at 2,772 ahead of Sergey Karjakin, of Ukraine, on 2,717. (VNS)
