Biel-Master-Tournament-2016

The 2016 Biel Master Tournament took place from 25th July to 3rd August, as part of the 49th Biel International Chess Festival.

The 9-round Swiss open gathered 112 participants rated above 2000 elo.

American Grandmaster Samuel Shankland took a clear first place with 7,5/9 points, leaving the second placedGM Eltaj Safarli half a point behind. Indian prodigy Aravindh Chithambaram is third on best tie-break in the group of players with 6,5 points.

Top prizes in this section were CHF 6’000, 4’500, 3’500, 3’000, 2’500, 2’000, 1’500, 1’200, 1’000 etc
