Chess GM William Lombardy is facing imminent eviction from his home of the past 30 years due to rent in arrears. I am reaching out to the community to raise the funds needed to bring him current and give him the time needed to find a long-term solution to his financial situation.

As many of you know, William was Bobby Fischer’s 2nd (trainer, coach, representative) in his 1972 World Championship match with Boris Spassky. William kept Bobby in the fight when the latter considered a pull out. As a result, history was made when Bobby became the first and only US World Chess Champion.

A champion in his own right, William won the 1957 World Junior Championship with a perfect 11-0 score. A record that stands to this day.

Please help to save the home of a living chess legend who has represented his country so well on the international stage.

Whatever funds you can contribute are appreciated. Thanks.
