At the second break day in Nalchik, Aronian and Alekseev are leading the Grand Prix with a +2 score. Both are performed over 2800. There are only 4 games to play but anything can happen down the stretch.

In the mean time, 2008 SPICE Cup co-champion Akobian won the rapid match against 2008 US Champion Shulman. They will play a 10-game blitz match today. It’s an excellent idea by the organizer and let’s hope there’ll be many more similar type matches in the future!
